Seriously, I'm pretty sure this was a rejected Ernest script

This soulless entry in the Disney Direct-to-DVD catalogue manages quite a difficult feat; it makes us miss Matthew Broderick.

Billed as a sequel, this installment has next to no continuity with the first movie (which, while not good, should be noted is watchable). Save an offhand mention that Gadget got Claw sent to prison, this movie seems to outright contradict the first film more than draw from it; none of the original actors return, at least one important character has disappeared outright, and someone dialed up the "cartoon physics" switch from maybe 3 or 4 to a solid 11. Bizarrely enough, one of the few things to survive from the first film was the Gadget microchip-- but while a major plot point in the sequel revolves around the chip malfunctioning, a major plot point in the first movie saw the chip destroyed and revealed that Gadget didn't need it in the first place.

And let's not even get started on the massively creepy implications posed by the creation and role as love interest of the ladybot.

The only thing of any redeeming value to come from this movie is the Street Lobsters.
